RITZVILLE — The Broncos boys basketball team split last week with two different Coyote teams

The local boys fell to the Columbia (Burbank) Coyotes, 93-36, on Dec. 10, then edged the Kittitas Coyotes, 74-72, in overtime Dec. 13.

The Columbia Coyotes were unstoppable on their home court, cruising to an easy 93-36 victory.

The Coyotes didn’t report individual statistics.

Senior Brody Boness led the Broncos with 10 points, followed by younger brother Cameron Boness and Beau Fode with 7 each. Zach Klein added 5, Jerod Harder 4 and Cole Rouleau 3.

The Coyotes had 10 founds and the Broncos 9.

Against the Kittitas Coyotes, the Broncos jumped out to a 10-9 first quarter lead, but trailed at halftime 32-28.

Kittitas expanded the margin in the third quarter to 49-39.

A fourth-quarter rally erased the margin and by the end of regulation time, the game was tied at 63.

The Broncos kept the fire alive in OT, outscoring the Coyotes 11-9, to win the game, 74-72.

Brody Boness led all scorers with 26 points in the non-league 2B game; Dallon Walker was the top scorer for Kittitas.
