Monthly costs rise beginning January 1
LIND — Living in the town of Lind is about to get more expensive.
The Town Council approved ordinances earlier this month that raise monthly base rates for water, sewer and garbage.
Ordinance 24-06 raised the rate on trash collection, setting new minimum charges of $22 for 95 gallons of trash, $100 for 2 yards, $170 for 3 yards and $220 for 4 yards.
And beginning Jan. 1, Ordinance 24-07 raises the cost for water by 1.73% Under the new rate, those with a meter size smaller than 1.5 inches will have a monthly base rate of $68.50, those with 2 inch meters will pay $71.75 and increase to 10 inch meters with a base charge of $354.50.
Similarly, Ordinance 24-089 city residents and businesses will see a 1.74% increase for sewage services on Jan. 1.
All homes and apartments will have a base charge of $77 per month. Motels will pay a minimum of $102.85 and other small businesses $90. The Lind School District will be charged a minimum monthly rate of $540.
