Ramos, Kubik take fourth at Bob Mars JV

Broncos open wrestling season

KENNEWICK — The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague wrestling team finished 19th overall at the Bob Mars JV Invite on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Broncos amassed 60.5 team points; Richland won with 224.0 points, followed by Kamiakin in second with 221.0 and Chiawana in third with 216.0.

Cooper Ramos finished fourth at 120 pounds and Carson Kubik was fourth at 150.

Here are the individual results:

106 Pounds

Carter Brierly (2-2) was pinned in 2:12 in his opening match by Luis Lares of Eisenhower. In wrestlebacks, he received a bye then pinned Heath Wick of Richland in 44 seconds. In his last bout of the day, he was pinned in 1:23 by Mohammad Etekal of Ferris.

120 Pounds

Wyatt Gibler opened with a bye and then lost a 7-3 decision to Robert Powell of Kamiakin. He then lost in sudden victory overtime, 17-14, to teammate Ramos. Ramos was pinned by Kailen Blais of Walla Walla in 3:00 to open the tournament, received a bye then edged Gibler. Continuing in wrestlebacks, he pinned James Palmer of Hanford in 1:25 and then won by technical fall (18-0) in 2:54 over Mason Schneider of Umatilla, Ore. He then pinned Kale Huffman of Kennewick in 54 seconds and won a 4-0 decision over Liam Perkins of Richland. In the match for third-place, he lost by no contest to Aiden Gerrard of Hermiston.

144 Pounds

Wyatt Rosman opened by pinning Zach Beeman of Ferris in 1:24, but then lost a major decision, 10-2,. to Logan Bustamante of Kamiakin. In wrestlebacks, he pinned Adrian Martinez of Pasco in 43 seconds, before losing an 11-5 decision to Alec Elsethagen of Southridge.

150 Pounds

Kubik opened with a bye, then pinned Linkin Hutson of Kennewick in 2:23. In the quarterfinals, he lost by major decision, 9-0, to Colton Vincent of Chiawana. In wrestlebacks, he pinned Chase Heaton of Southridge in 2:12 and then Traicen Garcia of Walla Walla in 19 seconds. He then pinned Santana Guzman of Chiawana in 46 seconds to reach the match for third place. In that final bout, he lost a 15-2 major decision to Jacob Johnson of Columbia (Burbank).

157 Pounds

Landon Segers lost his opener by pin to Ryan Rehmke of Kennewick in 1:15. He receive a bye before being pinned by Jackson Dorman of Kamiakin in 34 seconds.

165 Pounds

Garbiel Mungia opened by pinning Nathaniel Moore-Wilson of Zillah in 1:25, then took a 6-0 decsiion over Park Julson of Southridge. In the quarterfinals, he was pinned by Dominic Biglin of Pasco in 1:06. In wrestlebacks, he pinned Cameron Dodgin of Walla Walla in 2:39 before losing a 2-0 decision to Jedidiah Carpenter of Pasco.

190 Pounds

Curtis “C.J.” Ruby was pinned in his first match in 53 seconds by John Gutzwiler of Wenatchee. He received a bye before being pinned by Rafael Zepeda of Pasco in 21 seconds.

215 Pounds

Aiden Miller lost his opening bout by pin to Bryan Soto of Richland in 42 seconds. He received a bye before being pinned by Xavior Carreon of Kennewick in 54 seconds.
