Winter sports teams begin practices

RITZVILLE — Scholastic sports moved into the winter seasons this week with practices getting underway.

The boys and girls basketball and boys and girls wrestling teams started practices Monday, Nov. 18.

They are scheduled to practice on alternating schedules, from 3:40-5:30 p.m. and 5:30-7:20 p.m. weekdays through next Tuesday.

On Saturday, boys practice begins at 9 a.m. and girls at 11 a.m.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, boys basketball will practice from 1-3:15 p.m.

The girls will either practice at the same time in Lind or from 3-5 p.m. in Ritzville. At press time, a decision on that practice had yet to be made.

Wrestling practices will generally begin at 3:40 p.m.

But on Thursday, the middle and high school will split practices, with high school beginning at 5:30 p.m. High schoolers will also practice at 11 a.m. Saturday.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, high school wrestling will run from 1-3:15 p.m.

High school cheerleaders are scheduled to practice from 4-5:30 p.m. through Thursday this week and Monday and Tuesday next week.

Cheerleaders will have Friday, Saturday and Wednesday off.

All teams will take a break for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29. High school basketball and wrestling teams will resume practices on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Cheerleading and middle school practices will resume Monday, Dec. 1.
