$10.6 million project to be done in 2025

RITZVILLE - Expansion of high-speed internet throughout Adams County is continuing here and in Lind and Othello.

When complete next year, the $10.6 million project will provide high-speed broadband to 2,500 homes and businesses.

Officials said the project expands infrastructure that will benefit farm workers, students, businesses and other residents who have had limited access to internet.

"This is a major investment for Adams County and a milestone for our communities, providing reliable, high-speed internet access to thousands of residents who have long struggled with limited service," Adams County Commissioner Dan Blankenship said. "The economic and social benefits are significant, including the ability to access critical technology, employment and educational opportunities, healthcare services, and more."

The project is funded by a $10.3 million state Broadband Office grant and $300,000 earmarked by Adams county.

The construction contract was awarded to Zero dB Communications, a Spokane-based, fiber-optic splicing and construction firm.

Publicly owned corporation Petrichor Broadband is assisting in bringing broadband to the county.

"We are very pleased to help Adams County manage this project to connect residents and businesses in this part of our state to high-speed internet, a vital utility to support improved quality of life," Executive Director Kara Riebold said.
