Bronco girls split with Spangle schools

Lind-Ritzville volleyball falls to Manson

RITZVILLE — The No. 8-ranked Lind-Ritzville/Sprague girls volleyball team took two losses and a win on the court last week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Bronco girls (11-3, 7-2 in league) swept Upper Columbia Academy, 3-0. Set scores were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-13, on the road at the school just outside Spangle.

But they were shocked by another Spangle rival, the Liberty Liberty, 3-1, on Thursday, Oct. 17. Set scores were 16-25, 16-25, 26-24 and 20-25.

Then in a rematch of last year’s state title game, the Manson Trojans (13-0) swept the Broncos, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 19. Set scores and individual statistics were not reported for this game.

Upper Columbia

Against the Upper Columbia Lions (2-6, 1-6 in league), Zoe Galbreath had 11 kills and 39 assists. She also had 7 aces and 1 block. Allesandra Mendez had 12 digs for the Broncos.

For the Lions, Kari Willey had 3 kills and Jaslin Downes had 8 assists. Lyla Libby had 1 ace and Cam Stam had 19 digs. Hadley Bergamo had 3 blocks for Upper Columbia.

Liberty Lancers

Against the Liberty Lancers (7-5, 6-3 in league), the Broncos had a tough time containing Kendall Denny, who had 31 kills.

Zoe Galbreath had 11 kills for the Broncos, 2 aces and 1 block.

The Broncos’ Addy Colbert added 14 assists and Danika Cox had 25 digs. Claire Wellsandt and Saige Galbreath each had 1 block.

For the Lancers, Bothman had 39 assists and Omlin had 45 digs and 4 aces.

Tiegs had 6 blocks for Liberty.

The Broncos take the rest of this week off and return to the court on Oct. 29, when they host league-leading Freeman (11-2, 7-0 in league) at 6:30 p.m. in Gilson Gymnasium. The Scotties are currently ranked No. 5 in state 2B volleyball.
