Montes wins inaugural Great Pumpkin Trophy

OTHELLO - The Adams County Sheriff's Office inaugural Great Pumpkin Trophy was awarded to deputy Jesus Montes.

The Great Pumpkin Contest pitted Sheriff's Office employees against each other to see who come up with the best decorated gourd. Residents were able to vote for their favorite pumpkin design via social media.

Montes' pumpkin featured a deputy wearing a hat and sporting a goatee.

"His creativity and attention to detail made his pumpkin the clear favorite," Sheriff Dale Wagner said on social media. "For his amazing work, Deputy Montes will receive the coveted "Great Pumpkin Trophy!"

Wagner called the competition "a fun activity" that helped connect law enforcement personnnel and the community.

In addition to his trophy, Montes received a give certificate to the Kix Stand. Country Cousins also helped with the event.

"Well done, Deputy Montes," Wagner said.
