STIFF SENTENCE

ON LIQUOR CHARGE

Jacob Kagele was sentenced to six

months in jail and fined $1,500 and costs

on a plea of guilty to a charge of manufacturing

liquor.

The sentence was imposed by Judge

Truax on Monday.

Kagele paid the fine and is serving

the jail sentence.

NEW Ritzville GRADE

SCHOOL IS DEDICATED

Ritzville's new elementary school

was formally dedicated Tuesday evening

with more than 700 persons lodged in

the gymnasium to hear Mrs. Pearl Wanamaker,

state superintendent of public

instruction, giv the principal address.

Mrs. Wanamaker dedicated the

building "to the children of this community

and to your children of tomorrow."

In her talk, she lauded local school

districts for having the courage and foresight

to approve special levies for new,

badly-needed school facilities.

QUICK HANDED THIEVES

TAKE HANSON RINGS

Over $2,700 worth of rings were

taken from Hanson's Jewelry Thursday

by a pair of young men.

Four rings, two of them with retail

values of almost $1,000, were taken late

in the afternoon by the slick larcenists

who were gone for over 30 minutes

before the heist was discovered.

According to Hanson, two men entered

the store late in the afternoon while

he was with with four other customers.

DUST STORM SHUTS

DOWN PORTIONS

OF COUNTRY ROADS

Adams County was not spared when

winds kicked up a dust storm which

wreaked havoc on many inland northwest

roads Saturday.

Adams County Public Works Director

Leon Long told the Adams County

Commissioners Monday that a request

from the sheriff's office closed portions

of Marcellus, HIlls, Cunningham and

Roxboro roads for several hours.
