Bronco boys, girls remain undefeated

RITZVILLE — The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague varsity football and volleyball teams remain undefeated.

On Friday night, the Bronco boys football team (2-0) topped Manson, 39-16.

And on Thursday, the girls volleyball team (4-0) notched its fourth win of the season its closest game so far.

The Bronco girls topped the Gorillas, 3-2, in volleyball. Set scores were 21-25, 25-14, 25-19, 13-25 and 15-11.

Zoe Galbreath led the Bronco girls with 13 kills, 14 assists, 26 digs and 2 aces.

Saige Galbreath added 2 aces and Hannah Towne a block.

The Gorillas didn’t report their individual stats.

The win came after the Broncos swept Warden, 3-0, last Tuesday, Sept. 10, and swept Columbia (Burbank), 3-0, last Monday, Sept. 9.

Individual stats were not reported in those games.

Meanwhile, the Bronco boys football team traveled to Manson where they ran over the Trojans.

Senior running back Brody Boness scored four touchdowns in the win.

Carson Kubik and Cole Rouleau each had a touchdown, as well.

Boness scored on a 13-yeard pass from brother Cameron Boness to open the scoring.

In the second quarter, Brody Boness scored on a 52-yeard and 3-yard run.

Before the end of the half, Manson got on the board with a touchdown.

The Broncos took an 18-8 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Brody Boness broke open on a 60-yard kickoff return. Beau Fode added the point-after and the Broncos took a 25-8 lead.

Kubik then caught a 3-yard TD pass and Fode kicked another PAT to give the Broncos a 32-8 lead, before the Trojans could get another TD and 2-point conversion.

Rouleau closed out the scoring and the 39-16 win with a 15-yard TD run, followed by another Fode PAT.

Cameron Boness completed 4 of 9 passes for 76 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception.

His top receiver was brother Brody, Boness, with 2 receptions for 45 yards and a TD. Brix Curtis caught 1 pass for 28 yards and Kubik 1 pass for yards and a TD.

On the ground, Brody Boness carried the ball 20 times for 200 yards and two TDs. Rouleau carried 10 yards for 77 yards and a TD.

Fode carried 3 times for 43 yards and Zach Klein four times for 28 yards.

Kubik led the defense with 9 tackles. Brody Boness had 6, Klein 4 and Rouleau 3.

This Friday, the Broncos travel to Newport to take on the undefeated Grizzlies (2-0).

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Grizzlies come into the game off wins over Riverside (Chattaroy), 34-18, on Sept. 6; and Priest River, Idaho, 20-12, on Sept. 13.
