Jean E. Williams, 79, of Spokane Valley, Wash. passed away Sept. 1, 2024. Jean was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Sherman, Texas to Robert H. and Bennie (Brown) Bernard.

Jean moved with her parents and older sister to Connell, Wash. when she was one. She attended school there, graduating from Connell High School class of 1964. From there she briefly tried beauty school in Moses Lake, Wash.

Shortly after, she met Robert W. Williams and they were married in November 1965. Together they had two children, Dale R. Williams (Ann) of Wymondham, England and Sandra J. Welsh (Carey) of Great Falls, Mont. They raised the children on the family farm in Lind, Wash. Jean loved living in the country.

Jean worked as a bookkeeper for their fertilizer business WILFAC and helped during wheat harvest driving semi-truck and combine. Primarily she was a homemaker and helped to shuttle kids to various events including 4-H, FFA and sports. Her greatest pride and joy were her children.

Jean loved to go horseback riding, especially trail riding on her horse, Rowdy. In fact, it was after being bucked off a horse that she found out she was pregnant with her daughter.

Jean and Robert divorced in 1987 and she then moved to Spokane Valley, Wash. where she worked in a gift shop for a while and also as a nanny. Watching a good western or Dancing with the Stars was a favorite pastime. She also kept tabs on the celebrities in the shows as well as the British royal family. She enjoyed visiting her children and their families in both Montana and England.

Jean is survived by her son and daughter; her four grandchildren, two step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held for Jean at 1 pm on Sept. 20, 2024 at Mueller Funeral Home in Kennewick, Wash. with burial and reception to follow.
