Jolly Rogers pillages Webb's Slough

Racing team wins 2-of-3 classes

ST. JOHN - The Jolly Rogers racing team made a great showing at the Webb's Slough sprint boat races on Saturday, Aug. 24, winning two of the three classes.

In the Modified class, driver T.J. Burrows and navigator Keith Brownsberger won the division. The duo beat out the team Slippery Pickle of Jesse Denton and Terry Lamb, which took second.

Third place was Cheney-based Pour Decisions team of Jason Perkins nd Kyle Belles. Fourth place was Checkmate, with driver Frank Toftemark and navigator Kelly Toftemark.

In the 400 class, Jolly Rogers took the checkered flag again.

The teamof Eric Werner and Jennifer Farmer edged Pure Insanity, River Rogers and Cole Keats, which took second place. Pure Insanity was in the last turn of the finals race when the boat hit land and could not finish, giving Jolly Rogers the victory.

Taking third place in the 400 class was the team Fat Buddy of Jesse Miller and Kalyn Miller. Fourth place was Punisher, Phil Miller and Samantha Hughes of Spokane Valley.

In the Unlimited Class, Jolly Rogers took third place with the team of Dustin Springer and Dawn Davis.

First place went to the Spokane Valley-based team Overkill, driven by Dennis Hughes and navigated by his daughter, Samantha Hughes. The team beat Poison Ivy of Rob Coley and Tanar Ward, who are from New Zealand, where the sport gets its origin.

Fourth place was Pure Insanity of Ryan Rogers and Cody Bristlin.

The Webb's Slough sprint boat races will be back in action next year for the June and August races.
