HARVEY WILLIAM LAIB

HARVEY WILLIAM LAIB

1940-2024

Harvey was born Dec. 2, 1940, to Edward and Emma (Stoller) Laib at their farmhouse near Warden Wash. He was the youngest of 11 children. Harvey started school in Warden and when his father retired from farming in 1948, the family moved to Ritzville. He then graduated from Ritzville in 1957.

Harvey went to EWSC (EWU), becoming a proud alumnus, then served in the Army.

After being discharged from the Army, Harvey was an accountant for the military, living in Sacramento California. Three years ago, Harvey decided he was ready to move home and had been happily residing at the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center until his passing on August 19, 2024 from complications of Parkinsons. He enjoyed collecting stamps, researching Laib family history, tinkering with electronics, and oil painting. He also enjoyed being brought root beer and treats by visitors and staff.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Alvin Laib, Herbert Laib, Delmar Laib, and his sisters Irma Floether, Lenora Sackmann, Edna Langenheder, Verna Burghard, Lillian Nix, and June Larsen. He is survived by his sister, Della Kiesz, numerous nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center for taking such good care of Harvey and making these last 3 years happy ones for him.

There will be a memorial service for Harvey on Sept. 3 at 2:00 at Danekas Funeral Home.
