Parents meetings set for Aug. 19

Broncos ready for fall sports season start

RITZVILLE — Local high school sports will be heating up in the next couple weeks as the Broncos begin organizing teams for the upcoming fall season.

Middle and high school teams will host parent meeting and orientations at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19. All football, volleyball and cross country athletes and parents at both the middle and high school levels are asked to attend.

Football and cheerleading practices will begin Wednesday, Aug. 21.

High school football players will practice in helmets only from 4-6 p.m. that day. Cheerleaders will practice from 4-5:45 p.m.

Twice-a-day practices for football players are slated for Thursday, Aug. 22, and Saturday, Aug. 24. Thursday practices will be from 3-5 p.m. and from 6-7:45 p.m. (helmets only). Saturday’s practices will be from 9-11 a.m. and noon to 1:45 p.m., with players suiting up in full pads.

On Friday, Aug. 23, the football team is set to practice only from 5-7 p.m., in helmets only.

Cheerleaders will practice from 6-7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 and 5-6:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23.

Other middle and high school sports are set to begin practices on Monday, Aug. 26, after the first day of school. High school teams will practice in Ritzville and middle school teams in Lind.

The Broncos open the varsity high school football regular season at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Liberty High School in Spangle.
