'Round Ritzville
Judge French fined Thomas Caton $25 and trimmings on a charge of drunk and disorderly, and James McVay $15 and ditto for interfering with the officer. Fred Bottone solicited alms contrary to city law, hence $10 was charged against him, which he worked out on Broadway while very much attached to a ball and chain.

107 degrees on Saturday
The Northwest had another visitation of hot weather the latter part of last week. After ten days of cool weather, the temperature swung into "high" again. Friday the mercury showed 101 and Saturday 107 degrees. Saturday was the most oppressive day of the summer. Though the temperature was equaled on July 1 and exceeded by one degree on June 30, neither day was so noticeably sultry as Saturday was.
Local Brevities
Another fireman who was asleep in an N.P. house near the track was nearly drowned by the water.
G.W. Cozine, an engine watchman, was seriously injured at Lind early Tuesday morning when the water tank collapsed and the wreckage crushed the engine cab. The accident occurred about five o'clock in the morning. The engine which Cozine was firing was on the track alongside the water tank. Suddenly the tank collapsed, and the wall of water rushed to the ground.

Café is moved across
highway to new location
The Ritzville Café picked itself up and moved across Highway 10 Wednesday. Owner Claude Hand probably could have paid for the operation by charging admissions in the immediate area. With unerring efficiency, a Spokane firm moved the 50 by 36-foot wooden frame building about 125 feet from the west side of the highway to the Columbia Street intersection on the east side. During the past two weeks crews with hydraulic jacks had lifted the building onto a supporting network of 16x16-inch timbers over three 8-tire trolleys, A braced truck pulled the building with a block and tackle hookup.
