Accountant Job Description:

EARH and its district clinics are a regional hub for health care in Eastern Adams County, offering exceptional primary care in a modern hospital facility enhanced by advanced technology and linked to a regional network of healthcare partners. This position is responsible for supporting East Adams Rural Healthcare’s fiscal functions, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing/presenting financial reports internally and externally, and supporting the payroll and accounts payable processes. The Accountant will report directly to the CFO in a rural healthcare environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Accountant Responsibilities:

• Analyze and prepare a variety of complex records, reports, and other financial documents and statements, other technical financial reporting, and special reports and projects as assigned.

• Assist with month-end closing.

• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents

• Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures

• Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions

• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information

• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions

• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status

• Provide technical support and advice on management

• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures

• Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process

• Provide input in the department’s goal-setting process

• Assist CFO in the preparation of financial statements and produce budget according to schedule

• Maintaining fixed assets and depreciation

Helpful Relevant Experience/Knowledge:

• Municipal government policies, procedures, and structure; applicable local, state, and federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.

• Intermediate principles, practices, and procedures of governmental budgeting, accounting, and purchasing, including preparation, monitoring, transferring, and reporting (GAAP, GASB & BARS).

• Municipal financial research and analysis methods and techniques.

• Laws, rules, and regulations related to accounting in government operations.

• Accounting software user and administration skills (SAGE Intacct)

• EPIC EMR experience is preferred but not required

• Critical access hospital experience is preferred but not required

Accountant Requirements:

• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

• High-level understanding and use of Office products, including Excel

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience

• Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, gaining experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues

Accountant- $32.29-$42.13
