'Tucna to recognize alumni

Banquet set for 1 p.m Saturday

WASHTUCNA — Local high school alumni will gather Saturday, May 24, to recognize their peers.

The Washtucna Alumni Association Luncheon Banquet and meeting will take place at 1 p.m. in the school gymnasium, 730 E. Booth Ave. A reception follows.

Alumni President Lawrence Lawton said he is happy to welcome returning alumni to the event where band students will prepare and serve lunch.

“Our luncheon banquet will allow for daytime travel and to allow time to visit with other alumni groups in our area,” he said. “Please plan to be there to renew old friendships and make new alumni friends.”

This year, the Alumni Association is honoring Class of 2024 graduates Madison Anderson, Madison Bartlett, Landon Eacret, Ella Greenwalt, Anakin Lujan and Lucas Sitton.

The Washtucna Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to one of the graduates during the banquet.

The 50-year Class of 1974 will also be recognized. Class members Dan Blankenship, Laurie Sullivan Brown, Doug Esmay, Nedra Coon Eychaner, Ron Hays, Bernice Mertens Milner, Ruth Dorian Morgan, Joni Jo Kuster Plager, Jerry Sloot, Debbie Hodgso Wheeler annd Susan Woodyard will be awarded 50-year pins. Deceased members of the class Craig Allen, Mark Breidenbach, Ben Sitton and Lewis “Chip” Woodyard will also be remembered.

Alumni are also planning to recognized the classes of 1984, 40 years; 1994, 30 years; 2004, 20 years; and 2014, 10 years.

“We will honor those of our alumni that have passed since our last banquet,” Lawton said. “Come and celebrate the lives of our alumni who have passed on to that greater Washtucna High in the heavens.

David Baumann, Steve Lalonde, Lawrence Lawton, Michelle Plumb and Elizabeth White are the current Washtucna Alumni Association board of directors.
