Local law agencies observe National Police Week

OTHELLO — National Police Week began Sunday, May 12, and local law enforcement professionals are recognized for their dedication and sacrifice.

“This week provides a special opportunity for us to recognize and honor the outstanding efforts of our Adams County law enforcement team and all law enforcement professionals across the nation,” said Adams County Sheriff Dale Wagner.

National Police Week also recognizes the family members of law enforcement officers as they play a vital role in supporting the officers.

A Facebook post at the Othello Police Department (OPD) highlighted the contributions of its administration. Chief David Rehaume and Assistant Chief Aaron Garza were commended for their longstanding service to the community.

Chief Rehaume, who recently celebrated 35 years of service, and Assistant Chief Garza, with 18 years of service, were praised for their dedication. Both leaders have served in various roles within OPD, demonstrating a commitment to serving and protecting Othello.

“We couldn’t be any more thankful,” the Facebook post said.”
