SPANGLE — Following spring break week, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys baseball team returned to the diamond Tuesday, April 9, at Liberty High School.
But the Lancers were ready for the visiting Broncos, sweeping the doubleheader, 19-9 in the opener and 19-2 in the closer. Liberty set the tone of both games from the beginning.
In Game 1, the Lancers jumped out to a 4-0 first quarter lead and expaned to to 8-1 after two innings. The Broncos had a strong fourth inning, with bats bringing 6 runs home. But the Lancers kept scoring and the 10-run rule kicked in after six innings.
The Broncos had 3 hits and 3 errors in the opener; the Lancers had 13 hits and no errors.
Thomas Domrese showed his Lancer teammates the way, with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
For the Broncos, Brody Boness had two doubles in the game.

But with the score 19-2 after the top of the fifth, Liberty didn’t have to bat again.
The Broncos had 7 hits and 3 errors in the closing game; the Lancers had 16 hits and no errors.
J.J. Hodl led the Lancers with two doubles and 3 RBIs in the game, leading the Lancers (7-5, 5-5 in league) to victory over the Broncos (0-12, 0-8 in league).
