Broncos routed by Bulldogs in Pullman

Games were played at WSU baseball field

PULLMAN – With the early spring weather unkind, many teams have canceled sporting events in Whitman County.

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos and the Colfax Bulldogs were more fortunate Tuesday, March 22 - their double-header was moved to Bailey-Brayton Field at Washington State University. The field is entirely turf, so baseball can be played when grass fields are too muddy.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, the Bulldogs dominated both games.

The Broncos scored only a single run in the doubleheader, while allowing 49 total by Colfax, which scored 32 in the first and 17 in the second game.

Broncos starting pitcher Cameron Boness pitched one and a third innings, allowing nine runs on no hits with nine walks. He would strike out two batters.

Jarod Harder picked up the lone RBI in the game for the Broncos, and Boness led the way with two hits.

The Broncos finished with five hits, whereas the Bulldogs scored their 32 runs on 18 hits. Colfax was also walked 14 times in the game.

Colfax shut out the Broncos in the nightcap, as Lind-Ritzville only produced one hit in the game.

Colfax had 17 runs on 13 hits.

Boness pitched again, allowing nine runs on seven hits in two and a third innings.

The lone hit came from Talus O'Brien.

The Broncos also struggled at Reardan, losing 15-3 and 11-9, last week.

Individual statistics were not reported.
