RITZVILLE — The Bronco girls are off to a perfect start of the 2024 fastpitch sofball season.
Last week, they topped Newport in a doubleheader and then defeated Kettle Falls.
In the home-opening game of the season against Newport on Tuesday, March 19, senior Harlee Hennings had a triple to lead the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague girls to an 8-4 victory over the visiting Grizzlies. Hannah Towne and Aeowyn Armstrong also had hits in the game.
The Broncos had no errors in the game.
Meanwhile, Newport had 4 hits and no errors.
Armstrong pitched the win for the Broncos.
In the nightcap, the Lind-Ritzville bats came alive, as the local girls routed Newport, 25-14.
The Broncos had 27 hits, while holding the Grizzlies to 17.
Neither team had any errors.
At bat for the Broncos, Megan Melcher had a homerun and a triple. Madisyn Cameron had a homerun, as well.
Cameron had 5 hits, as did Melcher; Hennings, Armstrong and Towne each had 4 hits.
Cameron, Towne and Armstrong had three doubles each, and Hennings added another.
Gemini Correll pitched the win for the Broncos.
The Broncos continued their winning ways Saturday, March 23, topping the Kettle Falls Bulldogs, 12-2.
Statistics for the game were not reported.
This week, the Broncos were scheduled to host the Colfax Bulldogs in a Northeast 2B league showdown on Tuesday.
