Motocross season opens this weekend
ODESSA—Motocross fans who can’t wait for the Desert 100 race the first weekend of April have local two races to look forward to this weekend. The Stumpjumpers Motorcycle Club, which puts on the Desert 100 each year, is hosting the Frostbite Grand Prix and White Knuckle Grand Prix here Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24.
The races are a mile south of town at approximately 3985 State Highway 21. Saturday is the Frostbite and Sunday is the White Knuckle.
Each day’s racing starts at 9:30 a.m. with a 2.5 hour long course, followed by a 90-minute short course, organizer Randy Nilles said. Saturday’s long course will include an EnduroCross section.
A first-time juniors race will conclude the Frostbite race.
“The course is about 12 miles in length,” Nilles said.
Sign up starts at 7 a.m. each day, with a soft sign-up expected Friday night.
Northwest Motorcycle Association membership is not required to participate.
Racers will head opposite directions depending on the race each day. Spectators can set up along the track.
