Hard at Work

A private letter from our worthy young townsman, A. F. Rosenoff, informs us that he is settled down to hard work and study in the school of pharmacy at Valparaiso, Ind., where he expects to remain about eight months, after which time he will return to assist in conducting the business of the firm of Olmstead & Rosenoff, druggists, in which he is equally interested.

Local and Personal

R. P. Smith, the mechanic, has just finished a neat dwelling on the farm of B. L. Sutton, the farmer king of Rattlesnake Flat, who will harvest 1,400 acres of wheat this season.

Last Monday W. E. Johnson, one of the proprietors of the Pacific Hotel, was compelled to punish one of his patrons, a long six footer from the country, for conduct unbecoming a gentleman. The "fly fellow" was admonished to behave himself but the kindly warning had no more effect on him than caustic on a cadaver, and he still persisted in having his own way. When "Billy" got through with "his toughness" the candidate needed some fixing.

Get the Magpies

The game commission, with the assistance of a government representative, has completed an aggressive campaign the past winter on magpies, and along Cow Creek the birds have been just about exterminated. The new poison bait used this year gets them quick and the birds get but a little distance from the bait.

On lower Cow Creek, 46 dead birds were picked up within a small radius a short time after the poison had been put out. The commission is turning its attention to hawks. They ask all sportsmen to destroy all hawks, eagles, crows, etc., at every opportunity, as well as stray cats found roaming in the fields who also account for a number of game birds each year.

Pastime opens near end

of remodeling job

Completing a remodeling project which began last January, the Pastime pool hall will hold an open house this Saturday with C.V. and Bob Stanfield offering free coffee and doughnuts plus what they call, "The Old Pastime with a New Look."

A spectacular weld-wood bar has been installed, complete with lowered ceiling and fluorescent lighting. Other new features include birch cabinets, paneled ceiling, new floor linoleum, and modern windows and doorway. The entire interior has been repainted, and the new "front" is complete except for a stucco finish.

2 streakers dash

along Main Street

Two nude male streakers galloped up Main Street here last Saturday night to the astonishment of onlookers. The two streakers, who were laughing, ran past Rummer's Store on Main Street and rounded the corner and weren't seen again. An onlooker, Jim Holstrom, owner of the Ritzville Hotel, said the duo in the buff either ducked into the alley extending from Adams Street or went down Railroad Avenue.

Streakers will be subject

to arrest says police chief

Streakers in Ritzville will be subject to arrest, police chief Donald Koehler said this week. "We'd have to do something here," Koehler said. Those caught streaking, which has been done recently throughout the nation, may be charged with indecent exposure or disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace, according to Koehler.
