Five juniors vie for Miss Ritzville title

Pageant set for Sunday, March 10

RITZVILLE - Five Lind-Ritzville High School juniors will vie for the title of Miss Ritzville 2024. Finalists will represent the town in parades and community events throughout the summer.

This year's contestants are Madisyn Cameron, Addy Colbert, Temple Gefre, Brooklyn Norton and Claire Wellsandt.

Here is an introduction to each candidate, ordered alphabetically by last name:

Cameron

Cameron, is the daughter of Mark and Christinia Cameron. Her high school activities have included volleyball, basketball, FBLA and honor band.

She plans to pursue a career in physical therapy at Eastern Washington University.

During the program, Cameron will dance to "Earth to God" by John Rich.

Colbert

Colbert, daughter of Rebecca and Adam Colbert, has set her sights on becoming a veterinarian after attending a four-year college.

Throughout her high school years, Colbert has participated in volleyball, basketball, track, Honor Society, FFA and FBLA.

Colbert will perform a skit entitled, "Backwards Jill," adapted from Shel Silverstein.

Gefre

Gefre, daughter of Megan Wills and Tyler Gefre, has taken part in volleyball, basketball, track and Honor Society.

She plans to attend Arizona State University to pursue a career as a forensic pathologist.

Gefre will share a self-authored poem during the talent portion of the program.

Norton

Norton, daughter of Richard Norton and Stephanie Dormair, has participated in high school honor band, volleyball and track.

She plans to attend Boise State University to pursue a career in law enforcement.

During the talent segment of the program, Norton will perform a jazz dance to "Feeling Good" by Michael Buble.

Wellsandt

Wellsandt, the daughter of Christopher and Holly Wellsandt, plans to attend Washington State University to pursue a career as an elementary or secondary school teacher.

Her high school activities have included volleyball, basketball, track, Honor Society, FFA and 4-H.

For her talent, she will recite "Oh, the Places You'll Go," by Dr. Seuss.

The Miss Ritzville pageant is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in the Ritzville Grade School gymnasium, 601 S. Chelan St.

There is a cost for admission.
