Zoe Galbreath leads her team with 22 points
SPOKANE VALLEY – The Colfax Bulldogs girls, scoring double-digit points every quarter, held off the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos in their Northeast 2B district opening basketball game Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the field house at West Valley High School.
The Bulldogs had a comfortable, 62-41, win in the district semifinals game.
The last time the Bulldogs and Broncos squared off, Colfax won on its home court, 45-32.
At district, Zoe Galbreath would start the game on fire for the Broncos, scoring 8 points in the first quarter alone. Bronco teammates chipped in 5 more.
But Colfax responded with 15 points to lead by 2 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Brynn McGaughy came alive for Colfax, scoring 7 points. Hailey Demler added 4 in the quarter for the Bulldogs.
The Broncos mustered 11 points in the quarter and Colfax took a 29-24 lead into halftime.
Demler and McGaughy proved too powerful in the third, combining for 14 points. Other Colfax girls added 6 more, while holding the Broncos to just 5.
At the end of three, Colfax had a 20-point lead, 49-29.
The Broncos rallied in the final quarter, but still fell short as the Broncos added another point to the margin, for a final 62-41 win.
Demler led all scorers with 27 points and 7 rebounds. McGaughy had 17 points and 3 rebounds, and Brenna Gilchrist had 6 points for the Bulldogs.
Galbreath led the Broncos with 22 points.
Harlee Hennings added 8 for the Broncos, Allesandra Mendez 4 and Saige Galbreath and Maddi Cameron 2 each.
The loss put the Broncos in a consolation round matchup Friday night against Liberty (Spangle).
Meanwhile, Colfax advanced to the district championship to play Davenport on Saturday.
