Local and Personal
Henry Horn has ordered a carload of ice from Sprague where a choice article can be found. Henry evidently intends to keep cool this next summer if congealed water will assist matters any.
Dr. F. R. Burroughs paid the penalty for exposing himself to the hard trip made to Lamona last Wednesday by remaining in his room and nursing a first-class cold for a couple of days afterward. The weather never gets too cold or the journey too hazardous for the doctor to face it and we always bank on his getting through on time if any man on earth can.

Plead guilty to coal theft
On information given by Special Agent Ferd Botz of the Milwaukee railway, five young men of Lind and vicinity were arrested on charges of stealing coal in transit on the railroad. They were tried before Justice Womack and plead guilty. The men were Fletcher Madison, Clette Madison, Chris Callem, John Pulliam, and Otho Campbell. Both railroads have been missing coal on shipments through Lind and the authorities hope that this case will be sufficient to stop the stealing.

The restaurant will be a contemporary brick building, a departure from the old-fashioned look Smitty's restaurants have had. It will seat 130 persons. Banquet facilities will be included.

Eddie Maughan is working to get a new bowling establishment going in Ritzville. Although nothing is definite yet, Maughan has found a building-the old Ritzville Trading Company structure near the county courthouse-that could house the proposed bowling establishment. Fire destroyed the Big Bend Bowl building last fall. Since then, Ritzville keglers have had to drive elsewhere for bowling.
