Vacant house burns in St. John

ST. JOHN — A vacant home undergoing remodeling was destroyed by fire Wednesday, Dec. 20.

According to Whitman County Fire District No. 2 (St. John), volunteer crews responded to the home near Milepost 7 of state Highway 23 at about 10 p.m. for a reported structure fire.

Nobody was injured in the fire, the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Firefighters from Colfax, Steptoe and Diamond assisted with the fire....
