Bronco boys, girls win two each

RITZVILLE – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys and girls basketball teams wrapped up their first week of play Saturday with wins over Almira/Coulee-Hartline and Kittitas.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, the Bronco boys knocked off the Warriors, 52-39. The local girls dominated the Warriors, 49-32.

Then on Saturday, Dec. 1, the boys(2-0) routed Kittitas, 72-45, and the girls (2-0) spanked the Coyotes, 67-43.

Against the Warriors, the Broncos got off to a slow start as Almira/Coulee-Hartline took an 11-10 first quarter lead.

But with game day jitters dusted off, the boys came alive in the second quarter, outscoring Almira/Coulee-Hartline 14-7, to take a 24-18 lead into halftime.

The Bronco boys never looked back, outscoring the Warriors 17-15 in the third quarter and 11-6 in the fourth, for a 52-39 victory.

Lance Williamson led the Broncos with 14 points, while Blake Earle added 13. Others posting points for the Broncos include Joey Duff with 10, Zach Klein 7, Jonathan Steinberger 5, Bridger Moore 2 and Brock Kinch 1.

Against the Coyotes, the Bronco boys established momentum in the first quarter, holding the Kittitas team to a single point in the first quarter while putting up 24 points.

With a 24-1 lead, the Coyotes never recovered, although the margin grew little during the rest of the game.

The second quarter was more evenly matched with the Broncos adding 20 points and Coyotes 18, to head into halftime 44-19.

The Broncos expanded their lead by 2 points in the third quarter, with scoring at 16-14.

Both teams finished out scoring with 12 points each in the final stanza, with the resulting final score at 72-45.

Girls individual stats were not reported.
