Less than one-third of voters turn out

County in the lower quarter of the state

RTIZVILLE — Less than one-third of registered voters in Adams County cast ballots in the Nov. 7 general election.

According to certified election results filed with the Office of the Secretary of State on Monday, Nov. 28,

Voter turnout here was 32.32%.

The Adams County Elections Office shows 8,010 registered voters in the county.

Only 2,589 returned ballots in the general election, records show.

That’s the ninth lowest percentage in the state’s 39 counties.

The lowest voter turnout was in Yakima County, where only 25.82% of voters cast ballots.

Other counties with voter turnouts less than Adams County include Clark, 26.73%; Franklin, 27.72%; Grant, 29.82%; Grays Harbor, 32.19%; Pend Oreille, 29.2%; Pierce, 30.34%, and Skamania, 29.73%.

The state average was 36.34% turnout.

The county with the highest voter turnout was nearby Columbia with 55.61% turnout.
