Local and Personal
The town wells for several weeks past have not been furnishing the town a sufficient supply of water. Town marshal Rettig gave the pumps a thorough cleaning which helped some, but yet the water supply is insufficient and some other means will certainly have to be supplied by the council.
The town council a few weeks ago provided for sidewalks on some of the streets that have lately been made by so much building, but not enough. These walks should be put down promptly and new ones provided for and some of the old ones repaired. Let us have at least sidewalks enough for the "lover's stroll."

Train delayed on account of wreck
Passenger train service was curtailed here Monday because of a train wreck east of Ritzville near Sprague Lake. Several freight cars were derailed, which tied up traffic about seven hours. The wrecker came up from Pasco to clear the track. No. 3 was held at Sprague and then sent back to Cheney and detoured over the S.P. & S. No. 333, the afternoon passenger, was the first train through.
After leaving Sprague they found the rear brakeman was not aboard and backed up to get him. In doing so they backed into an approaching freight train. The rear coach was badly shaken up, but there was no serious injury to passengers.

Eight parties are certified on general ballot
Adams county voters will be in for a real physical workout when they go to the general election polls Tuesday, November 2. County Auditor Marie Seematter disclosed this week that the general election ballot will measure 23 by 28 inches-nearly two feet by two and one-half feet in size. It's believed to be the largest ballot in the history of the state.
Main reason for the giant sheet, Mrs. Seematter said, is the fact that eight political parties were certified to list their slates on the general election ballot. They are the Democratic, Republican, Prohibition, Socialist, Progressive, Socialist Labor, Communist, and Socialist Workers parties.

John Faure attends big FFA convention
John Faure returned Sunday from Kansas City, Mo., where he attended the national Future Farmers of America convention as the delegate of the Ritzville chapter. Faure said he had taken along his movie camera and hopes to have pictures to show his chapter mates. Earlier efforts using the camera improved his skill and, said Faure, he was pleased with results obtained at the Colton football game.
