Warden man sentenced to 39 months

RITZVILLE – A Warden man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty Oct. 16 in connection with a shooting in Othello.

Joel Sergio Gonzalez, 21, of Warden, was sentenced to 39 months in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree assault in the shooting. The charge carried a firearms enhancement.

With the enhancement, Gonzalez will be required to serve at least 36 months before he will be eligible for any early release.

The charge stems from an Aug. 18 drive-by shooting in the 1000 block of East Cedar Street.

Police records show Gonzalez and Christina Lorraine Perez, 35, also of Othello, were both arrested, Saturday, Aug. 19.

Investigators located the couple in Moses Lake five hours after the shooting.

Gonzalez isn’t the only person facing prison time for a drive-by shooting in Othello.

Justin Gonzalez-Luna, 18, of Othello, will be sentenced Nov. 13 in connection with a 2002 drive-by shooting that left a Quincy girl dead and an Othello girl hospitalized.
