Broncos top Bulldogs, Coyotes, Crusaders

Local girls give up only one set

RITZVILLE – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague girls gave up a single set last week in three wins over Class 2B opponents.

The Broncos swept Kettle Falls on Oct. 7 and Kittitas on Oct. 3. In between, they edge league rival Northwest Christian (Colbert), 3-1.

With a record of 11-0 (6-0 in league), the wins established the Broncos clearly atop the Northeast 2B league.

Against the Bulldogs (2-7, 0-7 in league), the local girls won all three sets, with scores of 25-21, 25-8, 25-10.

Five players led the team in five different stats.

Zoe Galbreath had 10 assists for the Broncos and teammate Saige Galbreath had 8 kills.

Megan Melcher logged 6 digs and Madisyn Cameron had 5 aces. Clair Wellsandt had 2 blocks.

That win came on the heels of a hard-fought battle Oct. 5 with Northwest Christian. The Broncos edged the Crusaders, 3-1. Set scores were 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 25-21.

The Crusaders are currently tied with Jenkins (Chewelah) in the No. 2 position in the league. Both have records of 9-2 (5-1) in league.

In that victory, Zoe Galbreath and Assddy Colbert posted 14 assists for the Broncos. Zoe Galbreath also had 13 kills.

Saige Galbreath had 20 digs and 1 block.

Zoe Galbreath added 1 block, as well.

And Zoe Galbreath, Melcher, Wellsandt and Cameron each had an ace.

At Kittitas, the Broncos swept the Coyotes, 3-0. Set scores were 25-16, 25-15, 25-7.

Zoe Galbreath led the Broncos with 9 assists, 6 kills and 4 aces.

Teammate Saige Galbreath posted 10 digs and 3 blocks.

This week, the Bronco girls host Reardan (2-6, 1-4 in league) on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and Liberty (Spangle) (6-4, 4-2 in league) on Oct. 12.

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague girls are currently ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 2B.

Undefeated Adna (8-0) moved up to No. 1 last week. Manson (12-0) is ranked No. 3, Napavine (9-1) is No. 4 and Goldendale (10-0) is ranked No. 5.
