OTHELLO – What started out with a social media tip about a pedophile in Othello has led to the arrest of a Quincy man.
Angel Garcia-Lopez, 21, of Quincy, was arrested Aug. 22 on charges of first-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Both are Class B felonies under the Revised Code of Washington.
The arrest followed a 3-month-long investigation by Othello police and Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
According to police records, Othello police in May received a tip about a man allegedly sharing child sexual abuse images via cell phone.
Early indicators pointed to the alleged suspect residing in Othello, records show. However, the man, later identified as Garcia-Lopez, was tracked to Quincy.
