McMahan observes wheat harvest

University president visits Schoesler farm

RITZVILLE – New Eastern Washington University President Shari McMahan took time out of her scheduled last week to see the Adams County wheat harvest first-hand.

McMahan visited Sen. Mark Schoesler's farm, the 9th Legislative District senator said.

"I gave her and EWU's executive director of government relations, David Buri, an assessment of this summer's harvest and showed them around the farm," said Schoesler, R-Ritzville.

Schoesler said her visit came at a time when many wheat farmers in Adams and the surrounding counties were wrapping up harvest.

"Like many other wheat farmers in our region, my crew and I continue to be busy with winter wheat harvest," he said.

"We started our harvest on July 17, with hardly any days off.

"If all goes well, we will finish harvest this weekend."
