Loop representing Ritzville

CHENEY – This isn't Carlie Loop's rodeo... and it isn't her first experience as rodeo royalty. But the Ritzville Rodeo queen is enjoying her time in the saddle as her hometown rodeo's representative at activities across Eastern Washington.

Last week, she was among the visiting royalty at the Cheney Rodeo, where she also participated in that city's grand parade.

"I've already been to four rodeos and several parades, including the Reardan Mule Days, Coulee City and Lind Combine Derby parades," she said.

She also attended the Sedro-Woolley Rodeo, in northwest Washington. Sedro-Woolley Rodeo Queen Maddy Durkin joined Loop in Cheney.

"I would encourage anyone who's thinking about this program to go for it," she said.

Loop was a rodeo princess in 2014-2015, but 2023 is her first time as a queen.

Coronated as queen by the Ritzville Rodeo Association in January, she said her role has been positive and fun.

While Loop is representing Ritzville Rodeo, she's also preparing for her hometown rodeo, coming Labor Day weekend.
