Candidate forum slated in Ritzville

RITZVILLE – A mayoral debate for candidates on the Aug. 1 primary election ballot has been scheduled for Thursday, July 27.

Outgoing Mayor Linda Kadlec organized the 7 p.m. event in the new Ritz Theater, 107 E. Main Ave.

Ritz Theater proprietor John Rankin offered his facility at no charge; City Attorney John Kragt will serve as master of ceremonies.

Questions for the candidates may be written in advance and left at the door, Kadlec said. Residents may also ask questions directly during the forum’s question-and-answer segment.

Avista plans power outage for Othello

OTHELLO – Approximately 500 Avista electric customers will experience

a planned power outage on Thursday, July 20.

The three-hour planned outage will start at 9 p.m. and end at midnight, officials said. Impacted customers will also be notified by the utility.

During the outage, Avista crews will be performing maintenance to local power amenities, officials said.

Foundation sets fundraiser for July 23

OTHELLO – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Foundation is raising funds for its Community Care Fund.

The event is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at Eagle Lakes Lodge, 903 Eagle Road.

The fifth-annual event includes a prime rib dinner, live and silent auctions, organizers said. Proceeds benefit the fund and other programs.

National Night Out planned

OTHELLO – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual National Night Out celebration Aug. 12.

The event gives law deputies an opportunity to interact with the public and build connections outside of enforcement..

National Night Out will run from 5-9 at Columbia Basin Health Association’s clinic, 1515 E. Columbia St.
