Countywide burn ban in effect until Sept. 30

RITZVILLE – Adams County is prohibiting open fires until Sept. 30.

“The countywide burn restrictions adopted by the Board of County Commissioners as part of the Adams County Fire Prevention Code in September of 2021 are effective through Setp. 30 each year within the unincorporated areas of Adams County,” county Fire Marshal Andie Lorenz said.

Agricultural and orchard burning is allowed, if properly permitted by the state Department of Ecology, Lorenz said.

For residents and visitors camping in the county, recreational fires are allowed in “approved devices at public campgrounds,” Lorenz said.

On private property, campfires are allowed in fire pits with a 25-foot non-combustible buffer zone, Lorenz said. Gas and charcoal grills.
