Bronco sports camps scheduled

RITZVILLE – As the school year winds down, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos are already getting prepared for the 2023-24 seasons.

That preparation starts with a series of sports camps.

The Broncos are hosting a high school boys basketball camp this week; it started Tuesday afternoon and continues through June 1, from 3:45-5:45 p.m.

Camp participants will be heading to St. George’s in Spokane to play in a team tournament on June 2 and 4.

And more sports camps are coming up.

Basketball

Several basketball camps are scheduled for the month of June.

Basketball camps kick off with girls camps for middle and high school.

Girls in grades 5-8 will be in camp from 4-5:30 p.m. in Gilson Gymnasium from June 5-7. The camp will focus on fundamentals, drills and individualized drills for students to do at home over the summer.

The high school girls, grades 9-12, will be in the gym from 5:30-7:30 p.m. from June 5-8. The high school camp will focus on offensive and defensive preparation for a summer league.

There will be a grade-school and middle school boys basketball camps.

The grade-school camp is for boys and girls in grades 1-4.

Set for June 27-29 in Gilson Gymnasium, third- and fourth-graders will be in camp from 10-11:20 a.m.; first- and second-graders will be in camp from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.

The boys middle school camp is open to students in fifth- through eighth-grades.

That camp is set for 1-2:30 p.m. daily from June 27-29.

Football

The middle school football camp is open to students in grades 5-8 and runs from 4-5:30 p.m. daily June 5-7.

Participants will learn basic techniques and game fundamentals, including running, stances and starts, blocking, safe tackling, quarterback and running back skills, kicking and receiving, pass coverage and basic offense and defense formations.

Volleyball

The Bronco high school girls volleyball camp is set for 9-11 a.m. daily from June 12-14.

The camp will help prepare players for high school competition and include skill reinforcement, passing, serving, defense, attacking, rotation and more.

The Youth Bronco Volleyball Camp, set for 11:30a .m. to 1 p.m. on June 12-14.

Geared for students in fourth- through eighth-grade, the camp provides an introduction to volleyball, with a focus on foundational skills – such as passing, serving, defense, taking and gameplay – and having fun.
