Bronco tennis players win three matches

Lind-Ritzville moves on to district play

RITZVILLE – The Broncos tennis team was edged by St. George’s School , 3-4, last week.

The loss came after the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague players were swept by the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars.

Against St. George’s, Carlie Loop, Cameron Christianson and Megan Rivers each notched individual wins.

Loop needed three matches to top Kalea Schlenker, 6-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Rivers, too, took three matches to put away a victory. She topped Avery McMulin, 6-2, 606, 10-3 for the win.

Meanwhile Christian-son dominated Michael Lynch with a 6-1, 6-0 win.

Savannah Carruth, Hunter Cameron and Jeffrey Christianson struggled on the court.

Carruth fell to Evie Thorp, 1-6, 1-6; and Cameron lost his game to Rober DeFrost, 0-6, 3-6.

Jeffrey Christianson was topped by Issac Kos, 1-6, 0-6.

Against Jenkins, Loop lost to Avia Sahota, 0-6, 0-6; and Rivers lost to Simi Sahota by the same scores.

Cameron fell to Silas Warner in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 4-10.

Jeffrey Christians lost to Hunter Brashler, 0-6, 2-6; and Cameron Christian dropped two sets, 3-6 each, to Bryson Moral

In the only doubles match for the Broncos last week, Carruth and McClanathan were edged by Elise Warren and Tanais Mory in three sets, 6-4, 6-6, 7-10.

The local tennis players will hit the court again starting on Wednesday, May 10, for the district tournament at West Valley High School in Spokane Valley.

Day 2 of the tournament is set for Saturday, May 12, at Whitworth College in Spokane.
