Christianson wins on the road

CHEWELAH – The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague tennis team had a tough time against the Jenkins Cougars on the road.

The local players returned home with a 1-5 record on the court Wednesday, April 12.

The lone Bronco win was posted by Cameron Christianson.

“Cameron Christianson played his first real match and did amazing,” Coach Chelsie Lavigueur said.

He tied with Elijah Fazio in his first set, 6-6, then won the next two sets 10-8, 6-4 for the win.

In other boys matches, Hunter Cameron lost to Blake Foser, 1-6, 5-7; and Jeffery Christianson lost to Silas Warren, 2-6, 3-6.

“Hunter Cameron had an amazing comeback,” the coach said. “He had some killer serves.”

For the Bronco girls, Liberty McClanathan had a heartbreaking loss to Cora Grooms.

The two girls tied in their first set, 6-6.

McClanathan then lost the next two sets, 10-12, 5-7.

McClanathan partnered with Destiny Phelps for a doubles match against the Cougars’ Trinity Ross and Kelly MacRae. But the local duo came up short, 0-6, 0-6.

In a singles match, Carlie Loop didn’t fair much better against Jenkins’ Avi Sahota, losing 1-6, 1-6.
