Miller wins Glenn Wolf Invite

Track teams struggle in big meet

DEER PARK - The area boys and girls competed Friday, March 31, at the Glenn Wolf Invite at Deer Park High School.

The Lind-Ritzville Sprague boys tied for 14th overall with 16 points; St. John-Endicott LaCrosse finished 16th with 11.5 points.

In girls competition, St. John-Endicott finished 13th with 14 points and Lind-Ritzville 19th with 4 points.

Senior Myra Miller was the top athlete for the Broncos, taking first place in the girls discuss with a toss of 103 feet 6 inches.

Miller also took third place in the girls shot put with a toss of 32 feet 9.5 inches, a personal record for her.

On the boys side, J.P. McAnally place the highest for the Broncos. He finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 35 feet 11.5 inches, a personal record for him.

McAnally, a sophomore, also finished 13th overall in the 3,200-meter, with a time of 12:14.92.

Others placing in the Top 15 for the Broncos include:

Shawn Steinberger, 10th in boys 400-meter, 56.31 seconds.

Sophomore Claire Wellsandt, 11th in girls 300-meter hurdles, 59.68 seconds.

Addy Colbert, Danika Cox, Wellsandt and Zoe Gralbreath, 11th in the girls 4X200 relay, 2:08.30.

Freddy Gradados-Lopez, Carson Kubik, Kaleb Kuykendall and Damon Schilling, 11th in boys 4X100, 50.06 seconds.

Colbert, Cox, Wellsandt and Galbreath, 10th in girls 4X400 relay, 4;53.97.

Eagles results

For St. John, senior Rory Maloney had the highest finish during the meet that included class 1B, 2B and 1A schools.

Maloney finished third in the boys 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 17.66 seconds.

Meanwhile, teammate senior William Hubert finished seventh in the same event with a time of 21.14 seconds.

Maloney also finished sixth overall in the boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.28 seconds, and sixth in high jump with a leap of 5 feet 8 inches.

Sophomore Emery Molina led the way for the Eagles girls.

She had a personal record high jump of 4 feet 8 inches, good enough to finish fourth.

In other Top 15 finishes for St. John:

Freshman Chloe Waddell led the way for the Eagles girls. She finished eighth in the girls shot put with a throw of 29:03.00. Waddell also posted a 12th-place finish in girls javelin, with a toss of 72 feet 7 inches and 14th in girls discus with a flight of 65 feet 11 inches, a personal record.

Kate Roberts, Waddell, Emery Molina and Julia Guske, 12th in the girls 4X400 relay, 5:06.83.

Sarah Quigley, 13th, girls discuss, 66 feet 06 inches. She was also 13th in girls javelin with a flight of 69 feet 04 inches.

Freshman Keira Maloney, 5th in girls pole vault, 5 feet 06 inches, a persona record.

Guske, 11th in girls triple jump, 28 feet 7.50 inches.
