OTHELLO - A 40-minute standoff ended peacefully March 7 after a wanted man surrendered to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, Othello police and U.S. Marshals Service.
Nicholas Romero-Rivera, 34, was taken into custody about 5:30 p.m. following a months-long investigation.
Romero-Rivera was wanted on several warrants, police said, noting they received information he was in an apartment complex at 55 N. 10th Ave.
Law enforcement officers said they received information that Romero-Rivera was armed and "willing to shoot at police to avoid capture."
Law enforcement officers were assisted by Moses Lake Police, the state Department of Corrections and the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team, records show.
And after a 40-minute standoff, he surrendered peacefully and was arrested without further incident, records show.
Following the arrest, police searching the apartment found a 5.56 caliber rifle and a .45 caliber pistol, records show. Both were loaded.
Several loaded magazines were also recovered, records show.
In addition to the warrants, Romero-Rivera is facing two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, records show.
Romero-Rivera was booked in to the Franklin County Jail, records show.
