Two Huskies strike gold

SELAH — The Othello girls wrestling team made a statement Saturday, Feb. 4, in the District 5 Girls Subregionals 2B-1A-2A.

But their 411 team points weren’t enough to win the wrestling team title as Toppenish outdistanced them with 530 team points.

The Huskies were led by gold medalists Lucy Giles at 135 pounds and Elia Velazquez at 190 pounds.

Other medalists for the Huskies include Naraiah Guzman, fourth at 100; Grace Rocha, third at 115; Marsha Gomez, fourth at 130; Nayeli Leal and Angela Monday, third and fourth, respectively at 140; Kiara Haertling and Jadira Perez, second and third, respectively at 145;

Thalia Gallegos, third at 170; and Alejandria Espindola, third at 235.

The Top 4 from subregionals advance to regionals.

Finishing fifth and advancing as alternates are Aliyah Espinoza at 105, Serenity Ayala at 120, Griselda Sontay at 125, Aaliyah Gomez at 155,
