New Well Gets Water
Driller J.F. Hawthorne of the city park drilling crew reported to the council that he had struck a flow of water at a depth of 637 feet. He continued through the soft strata of rock and stopped the drill in a harder strata at a depth of 641 feet. He expresses the conviction that he has struck a flow of water that will be sufficient for the city's needs.
Lind Club Plans
Annual Banquet
The annual banquet of the Lind Commercial Club will be held Saturday evening next at Lind. The Lind folks have extended a cordial invitation to Ritzville folks to attend, and undoubtedly a good many from here will endeavor to make the trip. The severe cold weather is a barrier, because the way the trains run it is almost necessary to make the trip by automobile. It is stated that that road is open down the coulee through Paha with very little snow.

Youth Center to Be Opened Soon
Ritzville's informal youth center may be in full operation before Christmas, Chief of Police Pete Duffy announced this week. Space for the center, in the former dance hall above the Clock Café, has been donated by Russell R. Brown, proprietor of the café. It will be used as a meeting place for Boy Scouts, school patrol, youth club and other organizations.
Parked Truck Blocks Street;
Penalty is $15
Wilford Nowling of Lewiston, Ida. parked his long dual-drive truck in Ritzville Friday night and it cost him $15. The front of the truck was parked before the Desert Hotel but the rear end came to rest in the exact center of Main St. About 7:30 p.m. Judge J.P. Koch, driving his automobile, turned out suddenly to avoid hitting the truck and collided with another automobile driven by Raymond W. Fode of Lind. Fenders on both cars were creased. Nowling was fined $15 by Judge Eddie Kiehn for obstructing traffic.

Fairchild 'Copter Crew
Simulates Rescue Here
Fairchild AFB and state trooper rescue workers coordinated their efforts here on cold Tuesday afternoon doing a simulated helicopter human rescue in a pasture near the city dump. A new teamwork is taking form to save lives of persons injured in highway crashes, but getting them to a hospital quicker. Also possible is the attendance of a paramedic person at the accident scene who would be a member of the rescue team. Trooper Fred Young said this area of long highway distance between hospitals makes possible advantageous use of the helicopter.
Computer Date Plan on Trial
Secret results of a "compati-match" will be announced at a forthcoming Associated Student Body dance at Ritzville High School. The announcement when made will match 10 most compatible dating couples. Matching by computer is a service offered the local students who decided to take part. Students filled in computer dating cards. A well-placed observer reports halls were buzzing with people trying to match up their answers with the boyfriend's or girl friend's qualities.

Ritzville Taxi ready to serve
Ritzville area residents now have the opportunity to leave the driving to someone else as the Ritzville Taxi launches its business today, Thursday. "Woody" Fannin, a six-year retired resident of Ritzville, said he was "tired of setting around and needed something to do so I thought I would try this." It is his first venture in the taxi cab business. Fannin is offering taxi service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
