ST. JOHN – The St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse girls volleyball team (13-8-1) wrapped up the regular season last week by sweeping Pomeroy and Tekoa-Rosalia, but being swept by Oakesdale.
The Eagle girls swept Pomeroy 25-23, 25-19, 25-18 on Oct. 20 and Tekoa-Rosalia 25-7, 25-19, 25-9 on Oct. 25.
They lost to the Knighthawks, 25-8, 25-7, 25-15 on Oct. 18.
In the most recent game at Rosalia, junior Kaitlyn Hough had 14 kills, followed by sophomore Kate Hergert with 5. Junior Kenzie Stanley and sophomore Emily Molina had 3 each, and Sophomreo Avery Fleming had 2.
Molina and Hergert led the Eagles serving attack with 8 aces each.
Hergert had 7 digs, followed by junior Cami Larsen with 6 and senior Addisen Becker with 3.
The win ended the season for the Timberwolves and guaranteed St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse a post-season berth.
The Eagle girls were scheduled to open district play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Sunnyside against the Sunnyside Christian Knights (5-7).
The newspaper went to press before the game started.
The winner of that game advances to the district semifinals on Thursday night; the loser will drop to a loser-out game.
The district trophy games will take place Saturday at DeSales in Walla Walla.
Broncos
The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington girls volleyball team was scheduled to open district play at home Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The No. 2 district seed is hosting the Davenport Gorillas; district continued Wednesday and the league championships are Thursday in Colfax.
