RITZVILLE — The Lions Club will host its annual turkey bingo from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
“We’ll have about 160 games and 160 turkeys to give away,” Lion’s Club Acting President Pat Yerxa said. “People can buy tickets, one per game. And if they get a bingo, they win a turkey.”
The Lion’s Club conducts three main fundraisers during the year: club calendars (available at Gigamedics on Main Street), “chicken shack” sales at the Wheatland Communities Fair, and the turkey bingo event in late fall.
In prior years, the organization used funds collected at these events to sponsor local projects. The gazebo at the city park, stairsteps at the high school stadium, the fairground amphitheater — all were constructed, in part, with club fundraisers.
This week, the Ritzville Lions Club is focused on turkey bingo, which Yerxa described as a family-friendly event where people can win a turkey and spend time with friends.
Burgers, chips, sides, and desserts will also be available.
“It’s an opportunity for folks to see the organization in action. They’ll get an idea of what we’re about and maybe considering joining,” Yerxa said.
