WASHTUCNA – A community get-together is being planned for Sunday, Sept. 11, to help neighbors get to know neighbors.
“Washtucna has seen an influx of new residents in recent years,” organizer Donna Stoess said. “Often, it seems people don't know their neighbors.”
To encourage neighbors to get to know each other and build a renewed sense of community, Stoess said the get-together is being planned for 5-7 p.m. in Bassett Park.
Local businesses, clubs and organizations will provide free hot dogs, chips, pizza samples, ice cream sundaes, games, prizes and a bouncy castle, she said.
“Those who live in town and on surrounding farms are encouraged to attend,” she said. “Those who drive in to Washtucna to work, or take part in various clubs and organizations, but live elsewhere are also welcome to attend.”
In addition to getting to know each other, Stoess said the community is helping support Lind Fire victims.
Tickets for a quilt drawing benefiting fire victims will be available for purchase, she said.
The winning ticket will be drawn during a Lion’s Club bingo event in December.
