Summer stages
hot come back
When people were looking at the calendars and seeing how close September 1st was upon them, and wondering about their fuel supply and the winter woolens and such like, Old Sol swung the weather into reverse and put over a week of downright hot weather.
The temperatures tell part of the story. Saturday, 101; Sunday 97; Monday 101. But on top of that some of the days were close and sultry.

Missing plane found;
four killed in crash
The bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Lund and their two children of Roseburg, Oregon were discovered in their crashed lane Friday morning by Max Harder and two of his hired men.
The plane, which had been missing for 19 days, was discovered only 2 1/2 miles from the Harder Ranch home. Harder and the two men decided Friday to check the cattle between Sprague and the Harder Home.

Rodeo action set
The third annual Ritzville Rodeo and Calf Roping days will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Livestock for the two-day rodeo Saturday and Sunday will be coming in tomorrow at the arena north of town, said Bill Harder, the Ritzville Rodeo Association president.
Flying Five Contractors, Davenport, are planning to furnish about 60 head of horses, 10 bulls, 12 roping calves and 12 bulldogging steers.

Deputy prosecuting threatens lawsuit against the county
Deputy Prosecutor Dennis DeFelice has tendered his resignation effective today, Aug. 28, and according to a letter submitted to the Adams County Commissioners from Prosecutor David Sandhaus, DeFelice has informed Sandhaus that he intends to bring a suit against the country for disputed wages.
Sandhaus admitted in thte letter that he hired DeFelice earlier this summer at an hourly rate of $18.61, but DeFelice has only received wages of $17.74 per hour.
