City Gayly Decorated For Horse Show Visitors

Tomorrow with the grand parade at 10:30, the 12th Annual Ritzville Horse Show will begin.

The streets are now ablaze with color and the fair grounds a scene of strirring activity, all signs pointing to a most successful show. Show stock has been coming in to the grounds this week and will be in tip-top shape for exhibition.

Running and driving horses are here, and Prof. Byers and his trained horses are on hand and the animal are certainly beautiful.

Miller New Legion Head

W. Walters Miller was elected commander of C. J. Newland Post No. 51 of the american Legion at their regular meeting Thursday evening.

Larry Benzel was choses first vice-commander, Richard Kembel second vice-commander, Ivan Graham adjutant. John T. A. Smith, Finance officer; Barney Streeter, chaplain; Alvin Maier, service officer; Ralph Streeter, historian and Samuel Walters, sergeant at arms.

Bruno Sielaff, Larry Benzel and Wesley Eckhardt were elected trustees for the American Legion Club.

Contractors Push Grading Toward Completion of I-90; Paving,

Lighting Set in '73

Much of the work of transforming the last link of two-way roadway to freeway between Spokane and Seattle has been accomplished, according to a representatives of companies working on the 27-mile stretch of road west of here.

"About 95 per cent of the grading of the roads and 25 per cent of the bridge work is complete in our section," said Larry Olestead, office manager of the Peter Kiewit Sons' Co. construction site near Schrag. The Kiewit project is on the sector between the Grant County line and Schrag.

Scheelers selected parade marshals

It's not often that a community can acknowledge those who so unselfishly gave of themselves over the years but Lind will do so this Saturday.

John and Rose Scheeler have been selected as grand marshals for the 54th annual Lind Rodeo Parade in recognition of themany years of service to the community they love. They will ride through the parade in a horse drawn carriage.

John and Rose have spent most of their lives in Lind and will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Aug. 2.
