PULLMAN – The Lind-Ritzville chapter of Future Farmers of America closed out this school year with a solid record of achievements, bringing home high marks from Career Development Events at both state and national conventions.
Returning state champion teams in Floriculture, Environmental and Natural Resources, as well as Agricultural Communications all went on to place in the Top 10 nationally.
At the state level events, which wrapped up in May, Lind-Ritzville teams dominated in every category.
The Milk Quality and Products team (Jonathan Stromberger, Damon Schilling, Danika Cox, Claire Wellsandt and Arienna Bernal) was the first Lind-Ritzville has fielded for this event; yet, it adapted well and brought home their first state title in this category. This CDE involves dairy food grading and evaluating milk spoilage.
Two Lind-Ritzfield teams placed in the Top 10 for Marketing Plan, in which contestants develop marketing plans for local agribusiness.
The 4W Ranch and Show Feeds team (Alyssa Williams, Raegan Snider, and Taylor Galbreath) placed first, while team Desert Green Turf (Danika Cox, Claire Wellsandt, and Zoe Galbreath) took sixth-place.
In Livestock Evaluation, in which students demonstrate skills in selecting and marketing livestock, the local team of Alyssa Williams, Zoe Galbreath, Taylor Galbreath, Addy Colbert, Raegan Snider, and Lane Tellefson brought home its first win in the state contest.
The Agronomy teams also met with great success, placing first (Alyssa Williams, Taylor Galbreath, Lane Tellefson, Traye Redburn, and Travis Redburn) and third (Zoe Galbreath, Danika Cox, Jonathan Stromberger, Claire Wellsandt, and Alexis Mendoza).
In one of the last CDEs of the school year, a Meats Evaluation and Technology team (Alyssa Williams, Zoe Galbreath, Raegan Snider, Taylor Galbreath, Brix Curtis, and Traye Redburn) returned from Pullman with another win.
