Stockwell sentenced in attack on Sen. Schoessler

DAVENPORT – A Ritzville man charged with fourth-degree assault, harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident involving state Sen. Mark Schoesler last October was sentenced for one charge last week.

Glen Roy Stockwell of Ritzville was convicted of fourth-degree assault in Lincoln County District Court Tuesday, May 24, but had charges of harassment and disorderly conduct dismissed, according to court records.

Presiding judge Dan B. Johnson sentenced Stockwell to 12 months supervised probation, 12 months unsupervised probation and a $750 fine. He also gave Stockwell two days in jail, which the 71-year-old Ritzville man has already served, according to court records.

Stockwell was also banned from making contact with or entering the property of Schoesler, a Republican from Ritzville who has represented the 9th Legislative District since 2005.

Stockwell was originally arrested Oct. 11, 2021 by Ritzville Police after being charged with assaulting Schoesler in Ritzville city limits.

Schoesler wasn't injured in the attempted attack, according to news reports.

Stockwell has run for various political offices, including the Senate in 2018 and a 2014 run for the U.S. House in Washington's Fourth Congressional District.
